The Bad Boy of Comedy Returns to Canadian Mixed Martial Arts
Kris LaBelle signs Multi-Deal with Two Mixed Martial Arts Organizations
Labelle, an Italian-Canadian from Thunder Bay, first came known in the Canadian MMA scene as a host, promoter and commentator for several King of the Cage events, appearing on the Fight Network, Super Channel, and The Score. He left the scene after a tragic car crash in 2008.
LaBelle has fought hard to get back his spotlight using his natural born talent of Comedy. With 24 sold out shows in only 3 years, the industry now calls him the
“Bad Boy of Comedy.”
Kris LaBelle travels between his hometown of Thunder Bay, LA, and his current residence of Calgary, performing at comedy clubs to often sold out crowds. LaBelle, considered a 'non-traditional' comic, utilizes improv, ranting, and hilarious impersonations to win his crowds - often ripping on his audience members.
In his return to MMA, LaBelle will become the lead correspondent and personality for MMA News Canada.
Amy Lafleche, President of MMA News Canada, says "I really wanted to find someone with a dynamic approach to creating content for our community of MMA fans. When I was introduced to Kris I knew he was the guy - he knows
MMA, he's a comedian, and he has a natural talent that draws people in. What more could we ask for? This is really going to set us apart from everyone else."
Often compared to his American counterpart Joe Rogan, Labelle will also become the color commentator for the AFC. He will make his debut at AFC's Stampede Fight Night on July 12, 2013 at the Telus Convention Center in Calgary.
AFC President Steve Fader says, "AFC is super excited to have a comedic talent and MMA savvy personality like LaBelle welcomed to the team. Kris and I came up in this industry together and as of late, he's gone a different direction and solidified himself a spot in the comedy industry in Canada. I'm glad that the AFC can bring Kris back into the MMA spotlight by offering him a position with the fastest growing organization in the country."
Kris LaBelle, Steve Fader, and Amy Lafleche are available for interview by phone, in-person, or in writing.
