Family of missing Troy woman to hold a candlelight vigil to mark her anniversary

ALBANY, N.Y. - May 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Family and friends of missing Ashley Carroll, of Troy, NY, have organized a Candlelight Vigil to be held this  Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Missing Person's Memoriam on the corner of Swan & Madison Street in Albany, NY. It is open to the public.  May 06, will be the third anniversary of the 27 year old’s missing status, who was 24 years old at the time of her disappearance in 2010. Vigil organizer Kyla Smith says “We are hoping the public will attend and show support to Ashley’s family. This memorial service will bring attention to her case and we hope someone who may have information, that could lead to finding Ashley, will come forward.”

Carroll was last seen when a friend dropped her off in the area of Quail Street and First Street in Albany, New York on May 6, 2010. She is from Troy, New York and went to Albany to see her boyfriend who stated he did not see her that day. Her family reported that she

planned to travel to New York City with a friend, after she met with her boyfriend, with the intentions of returning on May 9, but there's no indication that she ever made it to NYC. Further, authorities do not believe that she ever made it back to her apartment in Troy. Her family and friends say that Ashley would never have abandoned her small daughter nor not make contact with anyone.  Her cell phone has never been used and all of her clothing, jewelry and makeup was in her apartment.  

Recently the nonprofit LostNMissing Inc., raised funds for another missing mother, Jennifer Ramsaran, of New Berlin, NY, for a public billboard.  During the course of having the billboard installed Ramsaran’s body was located. LostNMissing's president Cynthia Caron explains "All donors for Jennifer's billboard gave approval that they did not want donations returned and preferred it go towards another missing person. We were very blessed to have been able to provide this for the Carroll family and hope it may bring leads to finding Ashley."  The billboard,can be seen on 690 West, .25 miles West of Hiawatha Blvd,which is a high traffic area near the mall in Syracuse, NY.

Both Albany and Rensselaer police are investigating Carroll's disappearance. She is considered to be missing under suspicious circumstances.  Anyone with information, or anonymous tips, may call the Rensselear Police Department, 518 462-7451, or Albany police at 518 438-4000. Case # GREN0019
