Turning Nails into Spring Fashion is Detroit Salon and Spa’s Mission

“This Is It” Salon/Spa on Detroit’s Northwest side of town will give every customer the finest manicure and pedicure treatment during the month of May at the special price of $30.00.

LIVONIA, Mich. - April 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Detroit, MI – Now that Spring has finally arrived in Michigan, salon and spa customers are planting their nails at “This Is It” on Greenfield and Seven Mile.  Detroit’s three-year old  Salon and Spa is quickly becoming the “Discount Beauty Center” for the Motor City’s women.

“We feel that beauty should be affordable to everyone,” said Gary Towns, CEO and Founder.  “This is why we promote specials for our services every month.”

The professional staff at “This Is It” knows that every customer is different and especially for their protection, Gary has trained his beauty techs to ask questions.  Since acetone is used in nail polish removal products, his staff will find one that doesn't react as much.

The nail technician will cut and file nails as needed leaving at least a little of the white tip all the way across: just a clean up for any points or roughness left by the clippers.

Using a white block of a stick-type manicure or pedicure buffer, the surface ridges of the nail are smoothed out.  “My experienced manicurists and pedicurists know that thinning the nail too much will weaken it,” points out Gary. “A perfect edge-to-edge flatness is not practical or necessary. A soft, flexible buffer will more easily buff the sides of the nail along with the middle.”

Soaking the hands and feet with warm water and soap helps to soften cuticles. The tech will use a nail brush to gently clean your nails and the skin around them.  Then the nails are dried and moistened with a cuticle cream as it is gently pushed back.

A base coat or nail hardener is applied to cover the nail. This will even out and ridges and unevenness that may still be on the nail, serve as a primer for the polish, help the polish to last longer, and keep the color from staining nails.

At this point the nail tech will begin painting nails using a thin coat of springs colors! Through their experience, the nail technicians at “This Is It” will wait 10 to 15 minutes for the polish to dry. A second coat applied too soon will only smudge the first coat.

The top coat is finished with a clear top coat for a hard, smooth, scratch-absorbing, chip and flake-resistant shield, as well as adding shine.
