New ‘chapters’ for International Trophy Sale

April 30, 2013 - PRLog -- The catalogue has closed for the forthcoming International Trophy Sale hosted by Silverstone Auctions which now also includes a lifestyle collection for the very first time.

Almost 60 classic and race cars spanning some 90 years are now confirmed for the sale on 17th May at Silverstone circuit, which acts as a curtain-raiser to one of the UK’s most prestigious historic race meetings.

Estimated prices range from six-figure sums through to a number of cars being offered without reserve, presenting an ideal opportunity to enter the world of classic car ownership for the first time. There’s also an automobilia auction containing numerous paintings, prints, books, automotive artefacts, and even replica race helmets ensuring the sale is sure to contain something for everyone.

However, what really sets this auction apart as a ground-breaking event is the inclusion of a lifestyle collection for those with a taste for the finer things in life or simply individuals with an eye for an investment opportunity.

Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, explained: “We believe there is great harmony between the classic car auction and our exquisite new lifestyle collection. Both will attract collectors and enthusiasts alike, some of whom will see it as a chance to invest their money while others will have earmarked a particular item simply for the pleasure it will bring.”

Of particular interest in the car auction is a stunning 1964 Ferrari 330GT Series 1 - a car that Enzo Ferrari once described as his favourite – estimated at between £95,000 to £100,000, and a very rare 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Fixedhead Coupé, estimated at between £65,000 to £80,000.

The oldest car going under the hammer is a 1927 Studebaker Commander Big Six, estimated at between £12,000 to £15,000, while the youngest is a 2003 Bentley Continental ‘R’ Mulliner Wide Body, estimated at between £55,000 to £65,000.

Leading the rally car charge is a 1973 Ford Escort Mk.1 MSA/FIA RS1600 Group 2 model, estimated at between £65,000 to £80,000, while ready for race track action is a 1959 MG A FIA race car, estimated at between £25,000 to £30,000.

For those with a preference for two-wheels, there’s even a pair of Ducati superbikes waiting to be enjoyed on the open road.

Meanwhile, it’s not difficult to see why the new lifestyle collection is causing quite a stir as among the lots available are the very best Cuban cigars, with humidors being estimated from £500 up to £4,000, fine wines and liquors, plus stylish leather goods and exquisite jewellery.

Viewing of the lots takes place on the afternoon of Thursday 16th May and the morning of Friday 17th May before the automobilia and lifestyle auction starts at 11am, followed by the car and motorbike auction at 2pm.
