The Effervescent Jambalaya Brass Band To Perform At The Ever Popular Charlie O’s
In support of their latest CD release, On the Funky Side (currently charting on the CMJ and The Roots Music Report Charts), Jambalaya Brass Band will be performing at Charlie O’s Bar & Grill on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 9:30 pm to 12:30 am.
At Charlie O’s, along with tunes from On the Funky Side and their previous successful CD It’s a Jungle Out There, Jambalaya Brass Band will be performing other original and traditional favorites. The band’s foundation will be provided by Ralph Hamperian on sousaphone, Kevin Raczka on snare drum, and Chauncey Yearwood on Bass Drum—and this rhythm section cooks on high octane, so be sure to wear your dancing shoes! Filling out this tasty gumbo and adding the spice on top will be the trombone of Stafford Hunter, the trumpet of Steve Gluzband, and the tenor sax of leader and founder Ric Frank, an alumnus of the Duke Ellington Orchestra.

They embody the history of the best American music of the last hundred years while at the same time suggesting a prescient trajectory of America’s musical future. The Band’s arrangements are original and innovative while the playing is simultaneously precise and spontaneous, yet all is conceived with imagination and wit. After-
