RIVERSIDE, Calif. - April 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Say What You Mean; Mean What You Say:

A Leaders Meeting Manifesto

LEAD:
To guide on a way, especially by going in advance.

MANIFESTO: A written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuers.

“Our mission is…(to)…train & develop successful business professionals.”

The key words in this mission are simple, “TRAIN & DEVELOP.” In order to train, there must be education. In order to develop, there must be growth. Education is simple to give when students are eager. Helping people grow is a little tougher because it requires change.

We are fortunate to have a group of like-minded individuals striving for the same goal. We are even more fortunate that helping each member of the group reach their goals is necessary to each of us reaching our own individual goals.

It is, therefore, in our best interest to do all that we can to help each other reach the end goal of Executive Director by following these simple guidelines:

         1) OUR LEADERS MEETINGS HAVE A CLEARLY DIFINED GOAL: Our leaders meetings are an opportunity for us to strategize, share ideas, critique, practice, and collaborate.

         2) OUR LEADERS MEETINGS HAVE NO JUDGEMENT: Good, bad, right, and wrong are ideas left outside of leader meetings. Here we share ideas, ask questions, have moments of brilliance, and make mistakes without the fear of being teased or thought less of.

         3) OUR LEADERS MEETINGS ARE DESIGNED TO CRITIQUE ACTIONS, NOT PEOPLE:

         a. Build break build

         b. Remember you’re talking to real people, with real feelings.

         c. Do not say things like, “awful,” “I don’t like,” or “I hate it,” instead, focus on why it doesn’t work, and what might.

         4) OUR LEADERS MEETINGS ALLOW ACTIONS TO BE CRITIQUED: Don’t take it personally! You’re growing!

         a. Listen – The person critiquing has listened to your ideas and wants to find ways to make them better.

         b. Wait until everyone has finished critiquing to make comments.

         c. Explain only when necessary. Don’t rebut or defend.

         d. Take notes.

         e. Realize everything can be improved.

         f. Be willing to make changes.

         g. Do not say things like, “no,” “you’re wrong,” or, “that’s dumb.” Instead, ask          questions to figure out why their ideas might work better.

         5) OUR LEADERS MEETINGS ARE A SAFE PLACE TO SHARE: We say what we mean, and mean what we say. Nothing more, and nothing less. There is no innuendo, sarcasm, or hidden meaning behind critiquing or coaching.
