By: Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce The event featured a panel of experts who discussed how the region’s rankings in business climate, workforce development and quality of life impact the economic development opportunities of our region. The panel included Michael Langley, chief executive officer of Greater MSP; Ken Sorensen, vice president of Mortenson Construction; The regions included in the 2013 competitive set are comparable to the Minneapolis- Some of the key findings include: Workforce Development: “Minnesota will lose its workforce edge if it does not correct the current low graduation rates by the fastest growing segments of its population,” Business Climate: Minneapolis- Quality of Life: Minneapolis- Critical Issues is a four-part series that is intended to engage business leaders in thoughtful conversation about the future of this region. Moderated panel discussions with regional experts will identify opportunities for regional growth and critical issues facing the business climate, workforce development and quality of life. Each forum will include time for discussion and a question and answer session to strive to identify possible solutions.
