FAIRFIELD, Conn. - April 26, 2013 - PRLog -- April is National Parkinson’s Awareness Month and SYNERGY HomeCare of Fairfield is pleased to join the effort to bring further public awareness to this debilitating disease that affects more people than multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy and Lou Gehrig’s disease combined.

Parkinson’s disease is a slowly progressive neurological disorder that affects the movement of muscles and limbs. The disease kills vital nerve cells in the brain that produce the chemical dopamine, which is crucial to movement and coordination. Parkinson’s disease is one of the most common nervous system disorders of the elderly and the Center for Disease Control rated complications from the disease as the 14th leading cause of death in the United Sates.
