Norfolk based Publisher Youngblood Books release E-book love-letter to Norwich

Norwich is a city with an extremely rich literary history. However, the recent UNESCO City of Literature is set to be further immortalised when it provides the perfect backdrop to the twenty first century romance, ‘In Dreams' by James Eddy.

NORWICH, U.K. - April 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Today Youngblood Books release ‘In Dreams’ by James Eddy. This concise and elegant tale is the author’s first Novella; a heartbreaking romance that begins within the dream world of the main character, Oliver Bell. It is there that he meets a beautiful young woman and it is the blossoming of their relationship that increasingly blurs the line between fantasy and reality for Oliver.

“Oliver really can’t be sure if she actually exists,” James Eddy explains, “In the end though, he wants to believe she isn’t just a dream and starts following the clues she gives him when he wakes up each day.”

That is how he ends up in Norwich; a city that holds a special place in the author’s heart. “I love the place and I always have done. It’s not quite like any other city I’ve been to in Britain. It’s smaller and less aggressive than most, which is a good thing. It’s a beautiful place too and it has its own character, which hopefully comes across in the book.”

“When I first came up with the story, over ten years ago, I was still studying at the University of East Anglia and so I got to spend an awful lot of time in Norwich,” Eddy continues, “The two things I wanted to do with the story was to tell a love story through dreams and to try to show Norwich in its most positive light.”

“When I look back at that time, I can see that I probably enjoyed myself a bit too much. That’s one of the reasons it’s taken so long to finish the book but I did get to know an awful lot of the city very well and a lot of great people too. The best part about Norwich is that it hasn’t really changed in any negative way since then. It’s still seen as a rural backwater by people who have usually never been there or are too besotted with London to look closer. But that’s really their problem and their loss.”

In terms of book releases, Eddy won’t be resting on his laurels after ‘In Dreams’. 2013 is shaping up to be a busy year for the Norfolk based author and at least one story will see him returning to Norwich and Norfolk for its setting. “The plan was to release nine e-books in total this year. This is my fourth so far and at the end of the year I should be releasing my first novel, ‘The Dark Era’. I’m still in the process of editing it at the moment but there are large sections set in and around Norwich. There are also characters that appear in ‘In Dreams’ that will be reappearing in some capacity in the novel.”

Despite this, he is keen to point out that the two books remain entirely separate works, “Oh, this isn’t Star Wars,” he explains with a grin, “These aren’t prequels or sequels or anything like that. It’s more that ‘The Dark Era’ offers a kind of sideways glance at the same world. In that way, some of the characters can be seen slightly differently to the way they are in ‘In Dreams’. Well, that’s the idea anyway.”

Youngblood Books was founded in March 2012; a small publisher with big ambitions, where the story really is everything. In the brief period since then, Youngblood Books have placed themselves in the middle of the e-book Revolution. Their aims are simple enough and are based upon an old-fashioned belief in the power of stories. Even in the digital age, people remain fascinated by stories and they retain the ability to entertain, inform, educate and illuminate all of our lives. That is a tradition that runs through our shared history and is continued by ‘In Dreams' and by Youngblood Books.
