Ann’s House 5K Run/Walk To Benefit Home for Homeless Women and Children Coming May 18

CINCINNATI - April 25, 2013 - PRLog -- The third annual Ann’s House 5k Run/Walk, to benefit the home for homeless and health challenged women and their children, is Saturday, May 18, at Winton Woods Park, 10245 Winton Road, 45231. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the walk/run will start promptly at 9 a.m.

         The event will start at Kestrel Point, and wind through a designated five kilometer route through the scenic, wooded park. The event will end when the last runner and/or walker steps across the finish line.

         “The run/walk is a wonderful opportunity to get some good exercise for a great cause – Ann’s House for Homeless Women and Children,” said Zakia McKinney, founder of Junia Company, sponsor of Ann’s House. “We invite everyone to form teams of five to 10 run/walk teams, get sponsorships for each kilometer you walk and enjoy the spring day. Those who can’t or don’t want to run or walk, may sponsor a participant or donate via mail or online.”

         The proceeds from the run/walk event will go to Ann’s House in Westwood, a home that provides a place of refuge and healing for single women who are homeless, health challenged, recently released from prison or who have other challenges. (Ann’s House is not equipped to serve women with substance abuse issues, but will refer to other area Christian homes who do.)

         Ann’s House program is a comprehensive program, covering spiritual, emotional, financial, career aspects of the residents’ lives. Women who enter Ann’s House can stay six months to one year in the program. (There is no cost to enter the program or stay at Ann’s House, but residents are required to contribute to paying the expenses of the home once they find employment.)

         Ann’s House Run/Walk Run starts at 8:30 a.m. with registration, which is $25 the day of the event. Awards and photo opportunities begin at 10:30 a.m. All registrants must be 18 years of age or older. Early Bird Registration fee of $20 up until May 17. All registrants will receive a T-shirt.
