April 23, 2013 - PRLog -- For the first time, there is an authoritative guidebook for foreigners buying a home in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Shenzhen. Landed China provides the local knowledge and practical information that non-citizens need to navigate one of the world’s most dynamic and opaque housing markets.

In Landed China, investor and award-winning writer Christopher Dillon explains:

• How real estate is bought and sold
• Where to find financing, legal advice and other essential services
• How to recognize and manage China-specific risks
• Where not to buy
• Where to find property listings (even if you can’t read Chinese)
• How to decorate your bare-shell home
• How residents and nonresidents have successfully bought property in China
• How demographic, economic and political trends are reshaping China’s housing market

Landed China features sample contracts, explanations of mortgages, land leases and the development process and information on heritage dwellings, such as Beijing's siheyuan, Guangzhou's xiguan and qilou and Shanghai's Art Deco and lilong homes. It also includes historical and cultural background to help buyers understand the dynamics of China's housing market.

“Just over 1% of Beijing's population is foreign born, versus 27% in London and 36% in New York. As China's political and economic influence continues to grow, the foreign population will increase,” noted Mr. Dillon. “Landed China delivers the resources that people need to buy a home in this unique, rapidly changing environment.”

Prepublication reviews of Landed China have been positive. Victor Yeung, managing director at LaSalle Investment Management, said the new book is “easy to read but packed with useful details... The historical and cultural background and actionable advice are especially valuable.” Stephen Chu, the founding CEO of Hui Xian Asset Management, which manages the first yuan-denominated real estate investment trust to be listed in Hong Kong, called Landed China “a must-read for anyone interested in Mainland real estate.”
