Dutchess County Boxing in LaGrange, NY at Precision MMA

LAGRANGEVILLE, N.Y. - April 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Dutchess County’s top boxing gym has been turning heads for their winning program producing champs in the ring and changing lives outside of it.

Team Precision Boxing has consistently made a name for itself across the region.  Dutchess County boxers knew that Precision was doing big things when it crowned its first home grown golden gloves champion in Pat Daka, who earned the crown after many thrilling victories up in Buffalo New York.

This latest title is not the first for the Dutchess County Boxing powerhouse though. Dutchess County boxer John Joy is a familiar face at all of John Carlo’s AKBF fight shows. The AKBF is the longest running Dutchess County fight show for boxers, kickboxers and mixed martial artists.  A real crowd pleaser, Joy’s no nonsense style earned him the group’s 160 pound title after many fantastic wins.  Making him one of the most recognized fighters on the Dutchess County Boxing scene.

The brain behind the operation at Team Precision Boxing is head coach Derrick Ohlhoff.  Derrick first encountered Team Precision head instructor Brian McLaughlin as their paths crossed at various Dutchess County boxing gyms.  The fighters became sparring partners as Derrick, a 3-time Golden Gloves Winner in his own right, was preparing for the nationals.  Derrick admired McLaughlin’s hard work and offered to assist his fighters at McLaughlin’s Dutchess County facility in LaGrange, NY.  

Derrick brings a true wealth of knowledge and experience to Precision, a seasoned fighter with over 30 bouts under his wing Derrick knows the workings of the fight game.  Derrick has also worked with high level Dutchess County professional boxers such as former Champion Brian Barbosa and title contender Zuri Lawrence.

At first, Precision was mainly centered on mixed martial arts competition, but once the boxing program grew a dedicated boxing team emerged.  Team Precision boxing is now a highly regarded force to be reckoned with on the Dutchess County Boxing scene.

The trademark of Team Precision Boxing is a style which emphasizes tight defense – head movement, slipping, bobbing and weaving, parrying and counter-punching comprise the core of the program.  Precision boxers may not always get their hands raised, but they rarely take damage.  Hitting without getting hit is the formula for Team Precision Boxers.
