Texas Partners FCU Joins Forces with Projekt Karma to Raise Funds for West, Texas Relief

KILLEEN, Texas - April 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Following the devastating fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, Texas Partners Federal Credit Union opened an account called “West, TX Relief Fund” to accept monetary donations from the community. To enable long-distance giving as well as donations via debit or credit card, Texas Partners has joined forces with Projekt Karma, a locally created crowdfunding online platform.  

On Thursday, April 18, Texas Partners Federal Credit Union opened the “West, TX Relief Fund” and began accepting monetary donations, selling World’s Finest Chocolate, and collecting non-perishable food and household items to benefit the residents of West. “Teaming up with Projekt Karma is an opportunity to get the word out to a larger network about the tragedy in West, and our relief effort,” says Texas Partners director of marketing Shelley Carlson. “We want people outside the local area to have a way to support the wonderful community of West, Texas. It’s a quick, simple and secure way for people from all over the world to make a donation of any size.”

About the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas

At 7:50 p.m. (CDT) on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, an explosion at a West, Texas-based fertilizer plant shattered the small farming community of West, Texas where the plant was located. As a result of the explosion, up to fifteen lives were lost – 10 of which were first responders – and over 200 people were injured. Over 50 homes, a 50-unit apartment complex, a nursing home, and two schools were among the damaged buildings.
