Varisport, Inc. Celebrates Earth Day 2013 with a Focus on Renewal and Innovation

CHICAGO - April 21, 2013 - PRLog -- In recent years, ULTRASLIDE slideboards have featured Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood baseboards and reclaimed wood bumpers on some of their ULTRASLIDE products, as well as using recycled and recyclable packaging and carbon neutral shipping methods. Now, on the eve of Earth Day 2013, Varisport is pleased to announce that all ULTRASLIDE bumpers are made from reclaimed “urban forest” lumber - specifically trees taken down in local neighborhoods and communities due to disease or storm damage. This means that no new trees were destroyed to produce these high-quality hardwood bumpers. Additionally, every ULTRASLIDE board now features underside rubber non-slip pads made from 100% recycled tires. Tires that would have ended up in a landfill or an unsafe, unsightly pile have been recycled and made into effective and usable components.  

"We didn't always produce the ULTRASLIDE in a sustainable way. However, over time we recognized that these changes were an investment in our future and, quite simply, the right thing to do. By expanding the use of reclaimed wood on all of the ULTRASLIDE bumpers and utilizing recycled tire rubber for our non-slip pads, we wanted to make a very strong sustainable statement. We are as invested in the health of the planet and minimizing our own environmental impact as we are in producing a high quality product.
