Allergy Season - Natural Relief with Halotherapy in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - April 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Spring has brought us a hefty start to the spring allergy season leaving many people suffering from various symptoms. Running noses, itchy eyes, coughs, sneezes, wheezing or sinus headaches are just a few of the symptoms people with allergies have to endure. An allergy is a hypersensitivity disorder of the immune system. Allergic reactions occur when a person's immune system reacts to normally harmless substances in the environment. Allergic reactions result in an inflammatory response, often with excessive mucus.

·        A nationwide survey found that more than half (54.6%) of all U.S. citizens test positive to one or more allergens.
Allergic rhinitis affects between 10% and 30% of all adults and as many as
40% of children in the United States.

Approximately 12% of Americans under the age of 45 have symptoms of
 chronic sinusitis.

Atopic dermatitis affects between 10% and 20% of children and 1% to 3%
 of adults.
·        In a recent survey, over 50% of homes had at least six detectable allergens present.

·        Allergic diseases affect as many as 40 to 50 million Americans.

There are a number of alternative allergy treatments that work to relieve the symptoms related to allergies, Halotherapy being one of them. Salt Therapy is a relatively new method here in the United States but for Centuries, people in Europe have been treated in natural salt mines/salt caves for respiratory ailments.

Halotherapy means breathing micron size dry salt particles that penetrate deep into the lungs. Halotherapy Spas with dry salt generators create the authentic healing properties of a natural salt cave/sat mine.  In Europe, extensive studies about Halotherapy have been conducted and show how effective breathing dry salt is for people with respiratory issues.
The Journal of Aerosol Medicine Volume 8, 1995 published a clinical study about Halotherapy treatments. Patients were treated 1 hour/day for 10-20 days.
"The effect of HT (Halotherapy) was evaluated in 124 patients (pts) with various types of respiratory diseases. ........ In the overwhelming majority of cases, the number and intensity of asthma attack and respiratory discomfort decreased or disappeared, which allowed, in a number of cases, to cancel or reduce the dosage of beta-agonists. The most pts showed positive dynamics of symptoms indicative of a better drain function of their airways: sputum secretion alleviates, it becomes less viscous, coughing relieves, and the auscultative picture of the lungs alters."

Salt has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial qualities. People that breathe very fine dry salt particles notice that it helps to open up and clear the airways, loosens up and liquefies mucus/phlegm and provides for a more productive discharge.  In order to have significant lasting effect, a Halotherapy schedule of 8-21 sessions is suggested.

The Salt Spa of Asheville is the only Halotherapy Spa in North Carolina. A Salt Therapy session is a relaxing experience and lasts for approximately 45 minutes while you recline in a comfortable chair and listen to soothing music.
