Ravenna Adult Day Care Center Offers Dementia Support Group

RAVENNA, Ohio - April 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Coleman Adult Day Services (http://www.coleman-adultday.com/1.html), provider of adult day care (http://www.coleman-adultday.com/33.html) and daytime health care and social activities for adults with dementia and developmental disabilities, offers a dementia support group for family members, friends and caregivers whose lives have been affected by a dementia-related illness including Alzheimer’s. The support group is open to the entire Portage County community and general public.

“A recent report by the Alzheimer’s Association (http://www.alz.org/) found that there are already 5.2 million Americans that have Alzheimer’s or other form of dementia,” said Janet Phelps, Coleman Adult Day Services Chief Officer. “Even more shocking is the Association’s prediction of that number increasing to 13.8 million by 2050,” she continued. “We want to be a resource for people in Portage County who are caregivers to a loved one with dementia or developmental disability and our dementia support group is just one way we can help.”

Dementia support group meetings run for one hour and are held the third Thursday of every month, beginning at 3:30 pm. Meetings are held at Coleman Adult Day Services 6695 N. Chestnut Street in Ravenna. Caregivers and family members are welcome to bring their loved ones for staff to assist during the meeting. Upcoming meeting dates are:
