April 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Respected chartered accountant Rob Tindle is hoping to be named the next Northern region council member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) as the fortnight election period begins.

With more than 30 years’ experience working within the profession in practice and industry the accountant, who is a partner at Teesside-based Tindle’s chartered accountancy firm, is eagerly awaiting the voting verdict.

This is the first time in eight years ICAEW members have had the power to elect their own council member that will represent the region and their interests.

Since training in the 1980s with a ‘big eight’ firm in Newcastle Mr Tindle worked his way through the ranks in small to large firms and today runs his own firm with business partner Angela Foster, which has 16 employees.

Uniquely Mr Tindle also has experience of not only advising business clients but actually developing and operating his own enterprise; the Ramada Encore, a hotel situated on the Quayside in Gateshead that opened in 2012.

“I believe it is important a practicing accountant, who works with clients in the real world, understanding their current issues, is elected for the role of council member,” said Mr Tindle.  “My extensive experience acquired over 30 years has given me substantial insight into the operations of the institute and understanding of the challenges professionals face.”

“Whilst my communication skills are strong, listening to our local chartered accountants is vital, and articulating their concerns is my key role.  My manifesto as a council member would be to develop the value of the ACA qualification, encourage training, ensure the maintenance of professional standards and in austere times, ensure ICAEW is cost effective!”

The highly regarded accountant has been the chairman of the local General Practitioners Group for almost 20 years, the Northern Society of Chartered Accountants’ treasurer for two and a half years, chairman of CU Peat Prize Trust since 2006 and is the former chairman of Teesside Society of Chartered Accountants.  The father-of-two is also a governor at Teesside High School in Eaglescliffe.

Members of the ICAEW will have from April 18th until May 6th to vote for their chosen council member to represent the Northern region.
