Signs critical to small business success

HUMBLE, Texas - April 19, 2013 - PRLog -- The results of a new FedEx survey confirms signs are absolutely crucial to a small business said Bart Peterschick, owner of the Humble Sign Company.  Peterschick said, “The survey, ‘What’s Your Sign’, confirms good signage is important in attracting new business.”
He said the survey, which was made up of nearly 1,000 respondents, found a strong connection between attractive, visible signs and positive customer decisions.
He said the survey found 76 per cent of people entered a store they had not visited before because of its signs.  Peterschnick added, “Fully 68 per cent made a purchase because a sign got their attention.”  The study FedEx commissioned found that women and younger demographics were especially influence by attractive a relevant signage, he said.
Peterschnick also noted that this survey confirmed other recent studies that he knew, including one completed in 2012 by the University of Cincinnati and a survey by the University of San Diego in the late 1990s.  He said his experience shows “that small businesses need to understand their market and integrate the graphics and design of their web presence with shop front signs to really reach the youth market.”
“We’ve been doing this a long time,’ he said, ‘and I can’t think of very successful new businesses that did not make a statement with their signs.  It is the personal form of advertising.”
