This day is recognized in the Jewish community as a 24 hour break from a 7 week period, from Passover to Shavuot, when such celebrations are not allowed. Congregation Har Shalom has partnered with 5 Star Mobile Salon out of Sterling, VA, who will be providing complimentary haircuts. Participants agree to donate 10 or more inches of hair to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization which has been creating hair pieces for children for 15 years. Har Shalom invites the general public to receive complimentary haircuts and donate their hair through this event. Har Shalom is a progressive, egalitarian, participatory Conservative Jewish congregation with over 700 families. Har Shalom is located at 11510 Falls Road in Potomac, MD.
