Truro Specialist Dental Centre Finalists For Four National Awards

PLYMOUTH, U.K. - April 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Truro’s River Practice Specialist Centre is celebrating after being shortlisted for four categories in the UK’s Dental Awards 2013.

The specialist dental centre based at Castle Street, Truro, has been shortlisted for four accolades including Dental Team of the Year, Dental Receptionist of the Year, Dental Nurse of the Year and Dental Therapist of the Year, and will attend the annual awards ceremony in London later this month to see if they will walk away the worthy winners.

Jeremy Peak, Lead Orthodontist at River Practice, discussed the team’s success: “We’re delighted to be named as finalists in this year’s closely-fought competition. We truly believe that River Practice is a shining example of how a multi-skilled team can work brilliantly together and excel in delivering exceptional treatment, care and patient experience.”

“Although a relatively small team, we’ve faced some challenging times over the past two years, both as a practice and personally. With good humour and dedication to each patient the team have faced the challenge of the Principal dentist suffering a life threatening illness, a flood and several key members of staff leaving the practice.”

“Despite all of these challenges our team has pulled together to allow us to grow as a business and improve the excellent feedback that we receive from our patients. “

Alongside being shortlisted for Team of the Year, River Practice’s Receptionist Jessie Morse has been nominated for Dental Receptionist of the Year. Despite being one of the newest additions to the team, Jessie has already made a significant contribution.  As patients’ first point of contact with the practice, Jessie’s kindness and enthusiasm has been credited for bringing a new level of customer care to the practice and has seen countless compliments from patients and referring dentists alike.

As well as Jessie, River Practice’s Joanne Hunt has been named finalist in the Dental Nurse of the Year category. Jeremy Peak added, “Since joining our team 18 months ago, Joanne has become a key figure in our patients’ journey and is always on hand to put them at ease. Aside from her work with our patients, she has also become a role model for the younger members of the team and has developed training programmes to help our new recruits gain further qualifications.”

Shortlisted for Dental Therapist of the Year is Lesley Oldfield. After starting her career in dentistry as a dental nurse in 1972, Lesley has trained not only as an orthodontic therapist, but also as a qualified orthodontic technician. Understanding patients’ concerns, Lesley’s calm yet efficient demeanour has helped establish her as a key member of the team and she has helped many patients to achieve excellent results from their treatment. She is an important member of the orthodontic team at The River Practice and has helped to ensure that the practice continues to receive exceptionally strong patient feedback. Lesley has also helped mentor one of the practice’s dental nurses through their orthodontic nurse qualifications.
