Follow on Google News | Jane Cairo Latini Named Executive Director of Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer CountyThe Board of Directors of Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County has named Hamilton Square, NJ, resident Jane Cairo Latini as the nonprofit’s new Executive Director. Latini had served as its Acting Executive Director since May 2012.
By: Interfaith Caregivers/Diane Blaszka “The Board is extremely pleased that Jane has accepted the position of Executive Director,” states Rosemary Durkin, ICGMC Board Chair. “Jane is a very giving and caring individual, and she believes strongly in the mission of ICGMC. Our care receivers and the Board are very lucky to have her in charge.” Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County is a volunteer-powered nonprofit organization that serves hundreds of homebound elderly and people with disabilities throughout the County each year. In 2012 alone, ICGMC volunteers from more than 25 interdenominational churches provided 11,821 hours of free caregiving services – an 8 percent increase over 2011 – to 319 Mercer County seniors and people with disabilities. Services included friendly home visiting, phone calls and respite care; transportation to medical and other appointments; A former teacher, administrator and assistant principal at St. Gregory the Great School in Hamilton Square, NJ, Latini specialized in staff development, and instructional and curriculum improvement. A graduate of The College of New Jersey and Georgian Court University, she joined ICGMC as a Volunteer Manager in 2008. In that role, she recruited and trained volunteers and ran workshops and educational forums on care giving for the elderly and their caregivers. She also managed ICGMC’s “Project Healthy Bones,” a program that educates participants on the importance of exercise, nutrition, safety, drug therapy and lifestyle factors as they relate to osteoporosis. Latini and her husband Joe, have three children and four grandchildren, and are active members of St. Gregory the Great Church, where she serves as an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, Lector, and small prayer group facilitator. Regarding her new position, she states “My work is life-giving and uplifting. It is a privilege to help our homebound elderly and the faithful volunteers who serve them. Every day is a blessing.
