Old World Meets Fresh Contemporary in Tanglewood, Houston

HOUSTON - April 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Tanglewood is a Houston neighborhood well-known for its lush landscape and luxurious estates. When two oil executives, who met and married in Azerbaijan, decided to settle down in Houston, there was no doubt that Tanglewood was the right location for their growing family. After spending over a decade on their lot in a ranch style home that was characteristic of most original homes in the area, they decided it was time to start from scratch and build a home they could call their own.

In 2010, the couple purchased the house next door, demolished the home where they spent their Houston past, and began the process of building the home that would hold their future.  
Marie Flanigan Interiors worked closely with the couple throughout the design process and fell in love with the drawings that would one day become this stately Mediterranean home.  “I love the idea of combining more traditional architectural styles with a hint of the unexpected. I want clients to feel as if their home is as unique and multi-faceted as they are themselves. The design journey becomes a very creative and personal process where we infuse design concepts with hints of their individual life story” says Marie Flanigan, MFI’s principal.

The courtyard boasts an operational stone fountain surrounded by pavers and green grass, customary in classic Mediterranean architecture. But take one step inside and you’ll find that Old World style elegantly blended with more contemporary interior elements. The clean, fresh essence of water continues to play an important role throughout the home design, where traditional décor receives a touch of French inspiration.

Throughout the home, creamy white walls serve as the background for intricately detailed wood panels, rustic beams, Versailles stone flooring, a scrolled iron staircase, and antique furnishings. Collectively, these elements create an extraordinary haven in the heart of Tanglewood, where this couple can bring together their Azerbaijan past with their Houston present.
