April 17, 2013 - PRLog -- BRACKNELL, UK, April 17, 2013 – LSI Corporation  today announced it is working with Nebula to simplify the deployment of scalable storage in highly cost-effective, easy-to-use, private cloud computing infrastructures, while maintaining enterprise-level storage reliability.

Nebula provides systems that enable businesses to easily, securely and inexpensively build large cloud computing infrastructures. The companies will work together on advanced storage solutions to inexpensively accelerate sharing and storing in an OpenStack® environment.

“LSI’s extensive experience in data protection and storage reliability combined with the Nebula One solution will enable higher-performance storage layers, helping customers extract more value from their infrastructure investments,” said Greg Huff, senior vice president and chief technology officer, LSI. “We are excited to work with their development team to create these exciting application acceleration and high-performance, low-cost data-sharing solutions for cloud computing environments dealing with today’s massive data deluge, and to collaborate on new open standards and certification.”

“Nebula has set out to democratise large-scale computing by creating a private cloud system which allows businesses to easily build a private computing cloud from industry standard servers,” said Devin Carlen, Nebula co-founder and CTO. “LSI, with its deep expertise in storage silicon and storage system architecture, is an ideal partner as we pursue our goal of offering highly scalable storage technology that can be readily deployed by companies of all sizes, allowing them to deploy private clouds that incorporate enterprise class storage and reliability.”
“Private clouds require a high degree of orchestration, and we are working together to enable further advances in highly scalable and inexpensive direct-attached storage for on-premise cloud computing infrastructure provided by the Nebula One system,” continued Huff.

LSI solutions for the OpenStack and overall cloud computing environment currently include its Nytro™ flash-based application acceleration products and Syncro™ sharable storage solutions, as well as its extensive line of SAS and MegaRAID™ products.

About OpenStack
OpenStack is a cloud computing project that is free open source software and that Nebula’s co-founder and CEO, Chris Kemp helped develop at NASA. The project is managed by the OpenStack Foundation a non-profit corporation established to promote, protect and empower OpenStack software and its community. More than 150 companies have joined the project among which are Rackspace, AMD, Intel, Red Hat, Cisco, Dell, HP, IBM, VMware and Yahoo. The OpenStack technology is a series of interrelated projects that control processing, storage, and networking resources throughout a datacenter, managing them through a dashboard that gives administrators control and allows users to provision resources through a web interface. Nebula is also collaborating with Facebook’s Open Compute project.
