Support Adoption for Pets continue their work to re-home strays across the country.

April 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Homeless pets continue to be an ongoing issue in the UK, especially given the increase in unemployment and the general cost of living means that more and more pets are being abandoned or handed in for adoption. As a result, the charitable work of Support Adoption For Pets is more important than ever in helping to re-home the thousands of strays found each year.

Thanks to the support of many nationwide donations, Support Adoption For Pets has raised over £7million since it was established in 2006. This fantastic generosity has enabled the charity to support over 450 local rehoming centres, through three main fundraising drives and also allowed the charity to award over £1.1 million via its grant award scheme over the past 12 months.

One of the charities to benefit from a grant donation from Support Adoption For Pets during 2012 was Pennine Pen Animal Rescue based in Oldham who applied for funding towards the installation of a heating and hot water system for the kennel area and dog play area and to extend their current central heating into the main cattery. The rescue stated in their application that it was often warmer outside than it was inside the main cattery area which, given the cold winter months, was a huge concern to them.

Since the award was made, the cats are now much happier, not to mention warmer and allows the rescues volunteers to concentrate on finding loving new homes for their current residents.

Support Adoption For Pets also actively re-homes small animals via its purpose built adoption centres found in over 330 Pets at Home stores across the UK and Northern Ireland. These centres have introduced 63,000 pets to their second chance at happiness!
