ORCHARD ROAD, Singapore - April 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Art Forum, one of the most established art galleries in Singapore, presents STILL LIFE ‘ORGANICA’ an ongoing body of photographic work by multi-faceted Singapore artist Bary Cha Cha, which in his own words “depicts photographic moments created in collaboration with nature, as opposed to just being captured, and presented with organic wit and an alchemic twist.

Central to the theme of STILL LIFE ‘ORGANICA’ are surreal visualisations that have been conjured up to engage the viewer into a discourse on the authenticity of image. Here, in a visual antithesis of yin and yang, simple aspects of nature have been veiled beautifully with synthetic elements and purposefully appropriated and incorporated into the frame of what is essentially an organic base of work.

Curiously ethereal and fantasy-like, all the subjects have been shot under available natural light on film in a further artistic collaboration with nature.

The exhibition features seven photographic works that are also complemented by still life installations specially set up to amplify the layered dimensions of the art on the walls.  The photographic works are available for sale in limited edition prints at S$1,200/S$980.00 (framed/unframed).

In a striking play of natural light, Leaf Unfurling puts a twist into the depiction of a leaf in isolation by infusing an organic yet alchemic effect on the traditional black and white study of nature. The result is a mesmerising portrayal of luminously rich golden hues on black, with a subtle, yet startling tinge of blue.

Vividly stark yet infinitely delicate, Speckled Canopy with its lace like web of interwoven branches parallels the essence of life that courses through our pulsating veins, evoking a gentle reminder of our fragility and interdependence on nature.

In its rich layering of textures, Pink Torso brings together the rigid hardness of a natural tree branch with the soft, seductive, richness of pink material, in a striking contrast that draws viewers into a deep sense of visual empathy.

In a dramatic still life rendition of a solitary tree standing tall against a windblown barren setting, Pathway evokes a surreal experience of daydreaming, where the movement of grass in the open path has been brought to life visually, through the textured use of real fur.

Other works on display include Baby Dragon, Laying on Red and Godzilla.

As an artist Bary Cha Cha’s life reflects layered touches on different aspects of art, from the world of dance where he was a dancer, costume designer, choreographer, to corporate advertising and eventually event styling and design. His artistic work is a reflection of his ability to communicate fluidly and creatively across different dimensional planes of ceramic sculpturing, art installations and photography.  This will be his fourth exhibition in Singapore.

STILL LIFE ‘ORGANICA’ will run from Saturday 20 April till Monday 20 May 2013, with refreshments served every Saturday from 4.00pm to 7.00pm for the duration of the exhibition. The gallery is open from 10.00am to 6.00pm from Monday to Saturday, other times by appointment. For more enquiries, please call 6737 3448.
