Hargrave Military Academy Prepares for Homecoming Celebrations

DANVILLE, Va. - April 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Hargrave Military Academy is preparing for its annual Homecoming celebration, April 19-20, 2013 on and around the Academy’s Chatham, Virginia campus. The weekend will be filled with events for students, alumni, and members of the community to enjoy.  

Event Highlights:

Alumni Golf Tournament, Friday, April 19, 12:30 p.m., Danville Golf Club, $60 per person (must RSVP to broskieb@hargrave.edu)
This annual tradition is a great way for alumni to kick-off Homecoming weekend. Teams consisting of four alumni each will play a round of Captain’s Choice golf, with prizes awarded for the winning alumni team, as well as the longest drive and closest to the pin.  

Tattoo Ceremony, Friday, April 19, 6:00 p.m., Hargrave Military Academy, Free
This military tradition is open to all alumni and the community. Join the President of Hargrave in honoring the United States with military music, drill and ceremony of the Corps of Cadets and the performing of a Retreat Ceremony.  

Homecoming Parade and Recognition of Lt. Col. Carlton Ramsey, Saturday, April 20, 11:00 a.m., Simpson Parade Field, Free
At this year’s parade, a special recognition will be given to Lt. Col. Carlton Ramsey. Lt. Col. Ramsey has been teaching the students at Hargrave since 1969 and will be retiring at the end of this academic year.  

Party on the Lawn & BBQ, Saturday, April 20, 3:30 p.m., Free (bring your own beverages and lawn chair)
This event, back for a second year, is open to all alumni. Music, provided by the band Diamondback, will begin at 3:30 p.m., while the BBQ, cooked by Tred Hunt ‘80, will be served at 5:30 p.m. The event is BYOB and attendees are to bring their own lawn chair.

7:30 a.m. - Registration Opens - Camden Hall, Hargrave Military Academy

8:30 - 9:30 a.m. - Alumni Breakfast - John D. Smith III ‘56 Student Center

9:30 - 10:45 a.m. - Buildings are open for Alumni to tour, Class Pictures

12:15 p.m. - Lunch (following the parade), John D. Smith III ‘56 Student Center

2:00 p.m. - Skeet Shoot, Spradlin Skeet Range

3:30 p.m. - HMA Varsity Baseball vs. Blue Ridge School, Rogers-Fuller Baseball Field

6:00 p.m. - Sabre Dinner (invitation only)
