NOVI, Mich. - April 16, 2013 - PRLog -- The global automotive supplier Preh is a finalist in the prestigious 2013 Automotive News’ PACE Awards, which recognize superior innovation, technological advancement and business performance among suppliers that contribute products, processes, materials or services directly to the manufacture of cars or trucks.

Accepted around the world as the industry standard of innovation, Preh won the PACE designation this year for its fanless interior temperature sensor. Sensors to measure cabin temperatures have traditionally needed fans. Preh’s fanless sensor uses a thermistor array—electronics whose resistance changes with temperature fluctuations—and software. The innovation is less expensive and more durable than a ventilated sensor, and can be built into the climate control system or placed in the cabin.

Preh, whose worldwide headquarters is in Bad Neustadt a.d. Saale, Germany, was a finalist in the PACE Product category, which recognizes innovations or the first commercialization for new products/services that have significant market impact and act as “game changers” in the automotive industry. Preh was previously named a European winner in this category in 2006, and a finalist in 2007.

The Automotive News PACE Award also recognizes suppliers’ superiority in two additional categories: Manufacturing Process and Information Technology.

Preh, along with other Automotive News PACE Award candidates, has undergone an extensive review process–including a site visit–by industry, academic and business leaders to select the award winners that were announced last evening at a gala ceremony at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit. For complete details of the 2013 Automotive News PACE Award, including a listing and profile on Preh, visit http://www.autonews.com/Assets/html/pace_award/.
