Nationally Acclaimed Second Saturday Divorce Workshop Launching this May in Westlake Village

Inspired by the Women’s Institute for Financial Education (WIFE.org), Local Collaborative Attorneys, Divorce Coach and Financial Expert Unite in Helping Women and Men Navigate “Untying the Knot”

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - April 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Ventura/San Fernando Valley- When WIFE.org co-founders and KPBS Local Heroes Candace Bahr and Ginita Wall founded “Second Saturday Divorce Workshops” through their non-profit nearly 25 years ago, they never imagined that they would be offering support to literally tens of thousands of women and men as they struggled with the devastating process of divorce.  Dozens of Second Saturdays have cropped up around the country - with over 50% of marriages ending in divorce, it’s clear that more help is needed.

In the same spirit of giving back, family law attorneys Lisa Zonder and Shane Loomis, along with Divorce Coach Theresa Heyes and Jerry Cohen, CPA, CDFA have modeled Ventura/San Fernando Valley Chapter of “Second Saturday” after the game-changing original, in order to help couples work apart and together in ending their marriages in a much less expensive and traumatic way.  In fact, the team’s specialty is “Collaborative Divorce:” a process providing a couple the support needed to resolve their divorce issues through use of an interdisciplinary team of professionals – it also requires a pledge not to go to court.

The newly formed Second Saturday Divorce, Mediation and Collaborative Workshop will debut this May 11th.  Similar to Bahr and Wall’s original workshop, Ventura/San Fernando Valley Second Saturday will address the legal, financial, family and personal issues of divorce in a logical, yet compassionate way.  With the guidance of trained professionals, participants will gain greater understanding of the confusing divorce process in a way that can often save them tens of thousands of dollars while helping them avoid going to court.

For attorney Lisa Zonder, “Divorce can be extremely costly and devastating, especially when it is litigated in court. We are excited to present Second Saturday workshops so individuals can feel supported, become educated and learn about less stressful options like Collaborative or Cooperative Divorce.”

WIFE.org and Second Saturday co-founder Ginita Wall couldn’t agree more.  “Divorce is not easy, and I am glad to see Lisa and her team providing Second Saturday workshops in their area,” says Wall.  We are proud that we’ve also seen countless people go through this program and realize they’d prefer to work on their marriages, stay together, and keep their families intact.  Regardless, Second Saturday provides a great opportunity for men and women to acquire non-biased, straightforward information and options to help them focus on what they need to do legally and financially through difficult times.  They can also save everyone a whole lot of time, grief and money.”

The Ventura/San Fernando Valley Second Saturday team will pay homage to the Women’s Institute by donating a portion of the $45 workshop fee back to WIFE.org.

The May 11th Divorce Workshop will be held at 2625 Townsgate Road, Suite 330; Westlake Village, 91361, from 8:30 – 11:00, with registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. It has a fee of $45 that is payable at the door or online at http://www.secondsaturdaydivorceworkshop.org.
