Self-Published Author Seeks to Raise $4000 in 40 days on Kickstarter for Anti-Bullying Initiative

NEW YORK - April 16, 2013 - PRLog -- “The Flyers and The Crawlers,”—the first book of the Bullies Bee Buggin’ children’s book series—is a modern fable written to teach children about bullying. According to the National Association of School Psychologists, “approximately 3.2 million children are bullied each year,” making bullying “the most common form of violence in our society.”  The NASP also asserts that bullying “is often a factor in school related deaths,” a revelation that shocked Jeffrey into writing “Bullies Bee Buggin’!”  

“I’ve learned that early intervention is the key,” says Jeffrey, who graduated from Hofstra University with a degree in Communications and a minor in English.  “Since children’s stories present such a phenomenal means for teaching kids, this book is the perfect vehicle for parents and teachers to educate children about the dangers of bullying.”

And kickstarter.com provides the perfect vehicle for Jeffrey to raise the funds needed to print and distribute copies of the book.  If she is able to raise $4000 in 40 days, Jeffrey will donate copies to school libraries, daycares, and anti-bullying conventions across the country.  However, since funding through Kickstarter is all or nothing, if the campaign doesn’t reach its goal by May 24th, Jeffrey won’t receive anything.

“We all need to work together on this,” says Jeffrey. “If we educate the very young, we can stop bullying before it starts.”

For contributions as small as $5, Jeffrey offers rewards that range from Kindle or Nook versions of the book, to personalized stories tailor-made for an individual child.  In addition to a host of other rewards, Jeffrey also offers an opportunity for survivors of bullying to tell their stories.  “Your real-life story may help save a child, and will inspire thousands more,” she says.   “With a contribution as little as one dollar, we can all do our part to make childhood bully-free.”
