The 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Features Significant Upgrades

The 2013 Sonata Hybrid distinguishes itself from the 2012 model with improved fuel economy, more power, and multiple trim levels.

OAK LAWN, Ill. - April 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Happy Hyundai (http://www.myhappyhyundai.com/) in Oak Lawn, IL is one of the Chicago area’s top auto dealerships, offering the latest models from Hyundai, pre-owned vehicles, and auto service. Hyundai has firmly established itself as an automaker that produces comfortable, attractive vehicles that achieve impressive fuel economy. Enter the 2013 Sonata Hybrid: released after the non-hybrid 2013 Sonata, it sports some big changes from its predecessor.

Unlike the 2012 model, the 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid (http://www.myhappyhyundai.com/VehicleDetails/new-2013-Hyundai-Sonata_Hybrid-4dr_Sdn-Oak_Lawn-IL/1954432913?cs:a:i=vrib_srchinv_Sonata%20Hybrid) is available in two trim levels: Base and Limited. More exciting than that, though, is its new powertrain: a 2.4L Theta II four-cylinder engine working with an electric motor and a lithium-polymer battery. This new powertrain allows it to offer even better fuel economy than its predecessor, with the Limited model coming in at 36 mpg city/40 mpg highway/37 mpg combined.

The 2013 Sonata Hybrid takes full advantage of the Hybrid Blue Drive system, which enhances mileage by taking advantage of its electric drive mode more frequently. This is thanks in part to an increase in power output from the battery—from 34 kW to 47 kW—and a lighter battery pack. The lighter, smaller battery pack has allowed the trunk space to increase from the 2012 model, from 10.7 to 12.1 cubic feet. The output of the electric motor has also increased, from 30 kW to 35 kW.

There have also been a number of small changes to the exterior that have increased the vehicles aerodynamic qualities. The coefficient of drag is 0.24—that’s better than the Toyota Prius, which has a coefficient of drag of 0.25.

Standard features of the base model include power windows and locks, remote keyless entry, heated mirrors, LED headlight accents and taillights, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 4.2-inch color trip computer. The Limited model adds leather seating surfaces, heated rear seats, a navigation system with a touchscreen, and a rearview camera, all sitting atop a set of 17-inch alloy wheels.
The team at Happy Hyundai is pleased to be able to offer the 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid to Chicagoland drivers.
