VENTURA, Calif. - April 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Ventura, Calif.--A new career-focused website featuring a wide range of resources to help young people get ready for the job market has been launched by the Workforce Investment Board (WIB) of Ventura County. www.VCJobsWithAFuture.org offers comprehensive, practical career and education information for youth—all in one place.

"Teenagers and young adults in Ventura County now have a go-to site for what they want and need to know about career opportunities, growing business sectors, levels of pay, and the skills and education needed to land good jobs," says Brian Gabler, director, economic development and assistant city manager of Simi Valley and WIB marketing committee chair. "The site is appealing and user-friendly, and we will make sure that it stays current."

The site is also a resource center for parents who want to learn more about skills-building school experiences and after school programs that are aligned with career pathways. It includes links to numerous career-related sites, including those that describe occupations, earnings potential and the fastest growing jobs in Ventura County. "Not every job requires a four-year degree, but just about every career requires vocational training beyond high school," says Tony Skinner, business representative for Tri-Counties Building & Construction, WIB board member and chair of the WIB Youth Council. "The education section of the website lays out all the options."

"Preparing our young people for the jobs of tomorrow is critical for ensuring that Ventura County businesses have the local workforce they need to compete in a global economic environment," says Cheryl Moore, WIB Executive Director. "With so many websites featuring career and educational resources, looking for what a young person needs can be time-consuming. Now, these resources are accessible on one site."

Radio spots announcing www.VCJobsWithAFuture.org will run on KCAQ-FM and KVYB-FM to reach young people and on KHAY-FM and KCLU-FM to reach parents and other mentors.
