AIHA Releases Important Position Statement on Mold and Dampness in the Built Environment

ORANGE, Calif. - April 15, 2013 - PRLog -- A few weeks ago, the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) released a position statement on mold and dampness in the built environment.  The AIHA represents approximately 10,000 members worldwide who practice industrial hygiene services.

This highly anticipated document provides important information regarding mold, indoor air quality (IAQ), and moisture in buildings.  The AIHA Position Statement reports, “…the position of AIHA is that persistent dampness and mold damage in the non-industrial workplace, including schools and residential housing, requires prevention, management and effective remediation. If visible mold is present, it should be remediated, regardless of what species are present. Such actions are likely to reduce new onset asthma, lead to savings in health care costs, and improve public health.”
