He said the role of Miss Carnivale and Song of Carnivale was extremely important leading up to and throughout the festival, and was looking forward to meeting the finalists across the two competitions. “The five contestants hoping to become Miss Carnivale 2013 are already excellent ambassadors for the region,” he added. “They will make a fantastic contribution with their charity fundraising and I believe the judges will have their work cut out to choose a winner next Friday evening at the Combined Club,” he added. The three finalists in the Song of Carnivale will also be announced in coming days, with heats taking place on Tuesday night. Winners can be heard at www.facebook.com/ Event manager Kim Hurley said it was important to support the contestants in their quest for Carnivale. “All of our entrants have penned a tune capturing the festive spirit and love of life in North Queensland. I am looking forward to hearing the performances and the end result from our winning entry.” Ms Hurley said the all ages event will have a major door prize on the night. “Our sponsors have come to the party and we have a Carnivale prize package with accommodation, restaurant vouchers, Carnivale event tickets and more.” Mr Dobbs said registrations were also still open for The Macrossan Street Parade and has urged businesses and community groups to support the event. “This year’s parade theme is ‘Carnivale, what does it mean to you?’. We believe this is really fitting as Carnivale means different things to different people, so this year we are going to celebrate this and see what our creative community brings to life with this theme.” To register a float or book tickets to launch event, visit www.carnivale.com.au Event Details: Date: April 19 Time: 6.30pm Venue: Port Douglas Combined Club Tickets:$35 includes meal and entry Information: End
