He is a graduate of Rush University in Chicago with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry. In 1995, Dr. Johnson was honored with the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute Predoctoral Fellowship. He also graduated from Rush Medical College as co-President of the AOA Honor Medical Society in 1997.

Dr. Johnson completed a general surgery internship in 1998, and residency in Emergency Medicine at the Cook County Hospital in 2001. He practiced as an attending physician at several hospitals in the Chicago area, including a faculty position at a major teaching hospital, until he moved to Washington in 2005. Dr. Johnson has been residing and practicing in the Tri-Cities area since.

Dr. Johnson is board certified in Emergency Medicine and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. He completed the Aesthetic Fellowship in Anti-Aging Medicine under the direction of Dr. Sharon McQuillen.
