HOUSTON - April 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Fresno, TX (4/9/13) - On April 20, 2013, Mr. Jay Barnett’s “We Are Royalty Book Tour” will be hosting the 2nd Annual We Are Royalty Celebrity Weekend, benefiting The ME Project.  This event is designed to promote and provide over 500 youth with fun activities and their parents with the support that they need to raise future Kings & Queens.

Jay Barnett, former NFL player, actor, contestant on the VH1 reality show “Wedding Wars” and inspirational speaker founded the ME Project to help our lost youth rediscover that they are meant to be Kings & Queens.  The realization that we have so many lost youth who are searching for a way to become better individuals was brought on when Jay realized that he, himself was once one of the lost youth and needed to change the path he was on in order to become a successful adult.

“During my teen years, my parents divorced and my dad disconnected from our family leaving me emotionally scarred, depressed, confused and contemplating suicide.” says Mr. Jay Barnett. “It wasn't until I was an adult that I realized how these emotions from my teen years had shaped my present adult life and how they were keeping me from being a functional man in society. I eventually sought out professional help and through my healing The ME Project was born. Now I get to help other young men who are suffering from similar issues.”

In order to help bring awareness to the struggles of our youth today, Jay has created the We Are Royalty Celebrity Weekend.  Events that will take place over the course of the weekend include:

Celebrity Basketball Game - This event held at The Tellespen YMCA, downtown Houston on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 10am -2pm. The kids will enjoy watching and playing a fun game of basketball with some of their favorite celebrities and professional athletes.  During the course of the event, the children will have the opportunity to test their skills against the celebrities, compete in a free-throw and 3-point contest and simply enjoy being a kid.
The Tux and Chux Black-Tie Fund Raising Event – This red carpet black-tie fundraiser is being held on the evening of April 20, 2013 at the posh Farrago World Cuisine Restaurant located in Midtown Houston.  The festivities will begin at 8:00 pm and will feature live music featuring a local Houston band.  Guests will also be able to enjoy Farrago’s “Sunday Brunch” DJ, participate in a silent auction and take advantage of the first class cigar lounge.  There will also be numerous giveaways and raffles throughout the night.  All proceeds raised from this event will go to The ME Project.

The ME Project is also proud to announce that so many companies have seen fit to sponsor the weekend’s festivities.  Some of the sponsors include:

Adidas
Farrago World Cuisine Restaurant
Tellespen YMCA
Bj’s Restaurant and Brewery
Black Card Promotions, LLC
Hard Core Pilates
Stephanie E. Freeman, MD PLLC
Big Dreams, A Small Watch Company

The ME Project is a five-week program that is designed to equip adolescent boys and girls with tools and life skills that they need to embark on their journey to become “Men & Women of Excellence”.  Jay Barnett uses practical exercises, life-changing discussions and restorative journaling to help these young Kings & Queens develop the necessary skills that they have been lacking for the majority of their years.

The weekend will provide parents with the opportunity to participate with different vendors that can help them with their health and finances.  While their parents are busy meeting with the different vendors that will be available, the kids will have the opportunity to play basketball with current and former NFL, NBA and WNBA Players, actors and many other celebrities.  While participating in these events, the children will have the opportunity to win saving bonds.
