Announces 32nd Annual Excellence in Philanthropy Honorees

---The Association of Fundraising Professionals – NJ Chapter (AFP - NJ) announces its Annual Excellence in Philanthropy Awards  will be held Tuesday, May 14th, at The Pines Manor in Edison, NJ.  

AFP – NJ will give out six Excellence in Philanthropy Awards.  The Outstanding Foundation award will be presented to The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, nominated by Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation.  This year AFP- NJ will present two awards for Outstanding Corporation.  The recipients are The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey, nominated by the New Jersey YMCA State Alliance, and Novo Nordisk, nominated by the Camp Nejeda Foundation.

The chapter’s two signature awards are Outstanding Philanthropist and the Robert J. Smythe Outstanding Fundraiser of the Year. This year’s Outstanding Philanthropists are Gale and Bruce Bott, nominated by Saint Clare’s Foundation, and Jane and Mark Wilf, nominated by Newark Academy.  The chapter is pleased to announce Nicole Kagan, Vice President of Development for the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, as the Robert J. Smythe Outstanding Professional Fundraiser for 2013.

“We are extremely happy to be honoring these individuals and organizations at this year’s awards luncheon. For 32 years the Association of Fundraising Professionals New Jersey Chapter has made a point to recognize the leaders of our field who are making a difference every day in our communities.  We look forward to celebrating our past winners and welcoming this year’s honorees into this impressive honor roll. So many people over time will benefit from the actions and generosity of these honorees," said AFP - NJ President Michael J. Baker, CFRE, Partner of m3 Development.

The event is being co-chaired by AFP-NJ Board Members, Sandy S. Broughton of Jackson Township and Kerry L. Herbert of Shrewsbury. Ms. Broughton is the Executive Director of Ocean County College Foundation and Ms. Herbert is the Vice President of Development and Community Relations for CPC Behavioral Healthcare.

Sponsorships are still available and range from $200 to $10,000 and include luncheon tickets and a journal advertisement in the Commemorative Ad Journal.
