Since its inception in 2012, The One Man Band Festival has sought to create a unique music event that showcases the talents and creativity of one-wo/man bands; for one weekend in May we provide an arena in which a community of artists and art lovers can come together to share their passion. These are the music-makers who create and perform music alone, the likes of loop artists, singer-songwriters, DJs and other types of solo performers. From traditional dick van dyke style fanfare ombs' and 80's reject beatpunk looper-junkies to grease slicking/rockabilly guitar-shredding, drumming all-in-ones and vicious vynil vigilantes. This is a truly unique event in Montreal and the only one of its kind in the world. "We’ve spent the past year scouring the globe for the most talented and entertaining One wo/man Bands, and we’ve been amazed at what we found. We could only choose 50, and they’ll be coming together to celebrate and share their wildly unique styles with Montreal this May. After a successful first year we decided to make it even bigger for 2013” says Jon Cohen, the festival’s organizer. With some of the city’s most recognized music venues hosting events, the festival offers ticket holders the option of visiting single shows or multiple shows over one or more evening. Concerts will be held at Sala Rosa, Casa del Popolo, Le Cagibi, Le Divan Orange, O Patro Vys, L’Escrogriffe, Cabaret Playhouse and Studio Sundari. All schedules posted on the website These intimate venues will give the audience a connection to a great range of styles for people of all musical tastes. The One Man Band Festival, a unique concept and the only event of its kind now in its second year, is intended to become a beacon for cultural destination for the city of Montreal, with plans underway to expand greatly in 2014.
