PGA Speaker Series Presents Legends Pete Dye and Alice Dye at the PGA Education Center, April 10

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - April 6, 2013 - PRLog -- PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Pete and Alice Dye, the legendary husband and wife golf design team, who have collaborated on such renowned golf courses as Kiawah Island Resort’s Ocean Course, Whistling Straits and TPC Sawgrass (home of the famous Island green), will be the next featured guests in the PGA Speaker Series at PGA Village, in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

In celebration of The PGA of America’s 97th Anniversary the very same day, the Dyes will take part in a fireside chat on Wed., April 10, from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m., in the PGA Education Center, located at I-95, Exit #121 (St. Lucie West Blvd.). They will be showcased in the Speaker Series’ popular format, which has previously featured the likes of Dow Finsterwald, Bob Toski, Michelle McGann, Walker Inman Jr., Dennis Walters and Errie Ball. The event is open to the public with complimentary admission. Immediately following, Pete Dye will conduct a book signing of his newly updated "Bury Me in a Pot Bunker."

A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and the 2004 PGA Distinguished Service Award winner, Pete Dye is the namesake designer of the Dye Course at PGA Golf Club. He has also created the likes of PGA West, Crooked Stick, Harbour Town Golf Links, Oak Tree Country Club, Trump National and Casa de Campo. Considered one of the finest golf architects ever, he is renowned for his trademark innovations that include signature railroad ties and links-style pot bunkers that define many of his courses. As well, Dye is credited with bringing back short- and medium-length Par 4s to the game of golf.

Alice Dye was the 2004 PGA First Lady of Golf and the first woman ever to serve as an Independent Director of The PGA. An Indiana Golf Hall of Fame member who Nancy Lopez called “one of the greatest amateur golfers ever,” Alice Dye won the 1978 and 1979 United States Senior Women’s Amateur Golf Championship; the 1968 North and South Women’s Amateur Golf Championship; two Canadian Senior Women’s Championships; and was a member of the 1970 United States Curtis Cup Team. She is also co-author of “From Birdies to Bunkers: Discover How Golf Can Bring Love, Humor and Success into Your Life.”
