Silko Honda Celebrates the Planet With Earth Dreams Student Art Contest

RAYNHAM, Mass. - April 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Silko Honda in Raynham is giving students a chance to flex their creative muscles with the Earth Dreams Student Art Contest (http://www.silkohonda.com/student_art_contest). Students from elementary grades through college have been asked to create pieces of art around the phrase “Earth Dreams.” This includes art that focuses on nature, Earth Day, going green, sustainability, and other related themes. Students were allowed to create artwork in one of three mediums: painting, drawing, or sculpture. The pieces will be judged by the general public; winning pieces in each category will receive awards.

The last day to enter the contest was on April 1st and late entries are accepted until April 5th by 3:00 p.m. at Silko Honda. All work must be submitted in the original medium; no scans or copies are allowed. Students can learn more about the rules and regulations on the Earth Dreams contest page.

The public will be able to vote for their favorite pieces of artwork on either the Silko Honda Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/silkohonda) or their Pinterest page. (pinterest.com/silkohonda/) Fans are encouraged to get their friends and families involved so as to make this a whole community event.

Voting will begin April 5th and go until April 19th.  Online voting will determine the finalists, who will then be judged at Silko Honda's showroom on Monday, April 22nd from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. All submitted works will be on display and the public is encouraged to see the hard work that students put forth.

Honors and awards will be broken up by grade level:

•          1st Place in the Elementary Competition: artwork will be on display at the Children's  Museum of Easton and  they will also receive a gift card

•         1st Place in the Middle School Competition: gift card

•         1st Place in the High School Competition: gift card

•         1st Place in the College Competition: gift card
