a socially conscious accessories brand, announced the launch of its annual charitable campaign-- “Tools for School”. The grassroots initiative aims at providing backpacks to 10,000 low-income students across the country. In today’s difficult economic climate, many American families struggle to purchase school supplies for their children. A recent poll estimated that 65% of families spent less money on back-to-school shopping than in the previous year. Local teacher, Michael Redman, believes this is a problem, and that proper school supplies are invaluable to maintaining academic achievement. “Students need the materials to do class work, take notes, and engage with concepts they are being taught. Helena Cho, CEO of Good Work(s) and mother of two children, agrees. “Without proper school supplies, students are in danger of not learning skills they need to be successful in the future. It is an issue we need to address.” The company has a rich history of working hand in hand with the education sector. In December, Good Work(s) worked with nationally renowned enrichment program LA’s Best to organize Give a Gift Give a Smile, a holiday gifting event donating 1200 gifts to deserving students at the Edward Roybal Learning Center in Downtown Los Angeles. Earlier that year, Good Work(s) also organized a Dream Prom event at Fairfax High School, realizing the prom wishes of scholastically deserving students experiencing financial hardship. Good Work(s) Make a Difference hopes to use the experience, knowledge, and resources acquired organizing those events to assist them in their ambitious goal. Good Work(s) Make A Difference donates 25% of net profits to charitable causes. The company aims to deliver fashion-forward merchandise while encouraging individuals to devote themselves to philanthropy. End
