SaveOurWorkforce Students to Give Presentations to Two California Congressmen

HAWTHORNE, Calif. - April 4, 2013 - PRLog -- In response to a recent letter regarding hardships youth are facing finding employment, the offices of two California Congressmen agreed to meet with student members of SaveOurWorkforce, non-profit organization whose mission is to save and rebuild the U.S. workforce. Representatives of Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) and Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34) will meet with the SaveOurWorkforce high school and college students to learn more about the youth's plan to increase jobs in America. The meetings will take place in April during the students’ Spring Break.

During the meetings, students will give a presentation that addresses fundamental issues of today’s unemployment rate (https://saveourworkforce.org/). According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate remains stubbornly high at 14.3%, including discouraged job seekers and those employed part time for economic reasons. Students will demonstrate their plan to increase jobs in America with SaveOurWorkforce.org. One of the features of the website is the “Before-You-Buy, Verify (https://saveourworkforce.org/)” tool, which accesses a database of information about the American workforce by company. Prior to making a purchasing decision, a consumer can search a company and see estimated percentages of the company’s U.S. workforce versus foreign.

"The ‘Before-You-Buy, Verify’ tool strongly encourages companies to keep jobs in the USA", explains Nestor Crespin, SaveOurWorkforce student member who is currently attending Loyola Marymount University.

The students will voice their concerns of the longer-term effect of today’s stark unemployment conditions: the fact that young people’s careers are getting derailed.

“We are working hard in school so that after graduation, we can find a suitable job,” says SaveOurWorkforce founder and high school student Austin Mazzolini. “The lack of good jobs is one of the biggest challenges facing America.”

Statistics from a recent Pew Research study says that nearly half of recent college graduates have taken a job that requires less than a four-year college degree; more than a third went back to school because they couldn’t find employment; and almost a quarter have worked without pay to get experience.

In addition to meeting with the students, the Congressmen can get involved by signing up to be a member for free atSaveOurWorkforce.org or supporting the organization financially by making a donation. Most importantly, the students of SaveOurWorkforce will encourage the Congressmen to get behind the organization and promote membership so the organization can reach its goal of one million members. By supporting SaveOurWorkforce, they will help rebuild America’s workforce and middle class.

“The congressmen’s offices agreeing to meet with us is a big milestone for SaveOurWorkforce,” says Mazzolini. “We’re happy to have the chance to get our voices heard and to show the congressmen the benefits of getting involved with SaveOurWorkforce.”
