April 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Everyone wants to know: Are 'celebrities' Pamela Andersen & Gwen Steffani hoping for Nominations at the 2013 IMMY Awards Ceremony? Hosted at Thermal Imaging Conference, June 3-6, 2013 in San Diego, it is the infrared industry's premier event of the year for the world'd largest network of certified and properly-trained thermographers.

Where does the name 'IMMY' come from? It is a nickname for the award which signifies that a particular still or video thermograph, properly done, professionally executed, and persuasively presented, creates what the industry knows as a 'United Infrared Image', meaning that all the elements are there: it is clear, tells a story, delivers information, and the title explains all.

Industry insiders privately speculate that Oscar and Emmy may just have to move over for IMMY -- the new darling of this media.

And just what is the IMMY, and why should 'Oscar' and 'Emmy' move over for it? "It's simple." says 'Coach Gary' Micheloni, creator of the award, and Director of Marketing & Sales for United Infrared.com. "Look, television and film deal primarily with two-dimensional objects. Add in motion, and you've got a third. Thermal imaging takes it a step further, and adds the dimension of heat."

Why is the time right now for an IMMY? "Infrared imaging has been around for decades now, solving problems in the building sciences, such as home and structure inspection, and helping people and animals. Its value simply needs to be recognized for the value it is, together with its art and science."

'Coach Gary' adds: "As with television and film, a story must be told. But with those media, they frequently rely upon voices and music. A skilled thermographer, on the other hand, must rely upon use of the camera alone, sometimes in the midst of an environment hostile to thermography, to capture that coveted 'United Infrared Image'." The IMMY exemplifies the very best of a United Infrared Image."

He said, "Just as the United Infrared Image is seen by the industry as the ultimate in thermal imaging scans, so is United Infrared viewed by thermographers as the established and unquestioned leader in all things infrared.

"That's why the Thermal Imaging Conference is being held this year, and staged at the prestigious Omni Hotel in San Diego, with thermographers from around the world attending. There are well over 50 technical presentations with industry experts presenting at all of them. Look at it this way: the godfathers and rock stars of thermography will be there, along with every person truly serious about his or her thermal imaging business. IMMY Awards will be considered in the categories of building science, specifically in these disciplines:roof scans, block wall, electrical applications, data centers, moisture intrusion, energy waste or efficiency. An IMMY will also be considered in the life sciences, especially equine injury diagnostics.

The IMMY Awards competition is open to all thermographers around the world, not just the elite members of the United Infrared Network. And since entries can be provided simply thru an email process, no one is excluded.

There is an open and flat playing field, and anyone passionate about thermal imaging is invited to be a part of this competition--either at the Conference or by submitting a thermographic work.

All serious thermographers interested in submitting their United Infrared Image for consideration of an IMMY Award, can simply send an email to IMMY at UnitedInfrared.com.
