Want to Get Hired on LinkedIn? Here's How to Make The Best Impression.
How Potential Employers Overlook You & How to Pop Up In Their Radar to Increase Your Odds of Getting Hired.
By: Daniel Camer; Toronto Photographer
Daniel Camer, a photographer in Toronto, has documented several cases to suggest that a better avatar (profile picture) may lower your chances of being overlooked, and increase the chances of you getting hired.
Daniel explains "a good avatar looks professional, sharp, and crisp, as should you look for your interview. The first impression is the one that counts."
He suggests that as a prospective hire, want your photo to communicate the same professionalism that you would during an interview, which as he goes on to say "is hard to do when the avatar you're using is the one taken with your uncle's camera."
According to several cases, the best photo on LinkedIn is one that is simple, lacks clutter, and makes you pop (not your clothes or fancy watch).
Daniel offers advice to enhance your photographs by covering the following bases: (1) wear professional clothing that you might wear to the workplace of the employer you'd want to work for, not fancy high end designer clothing; (2) take your photo up against a plain, neutral-colored background. Avoid color washout on your skin; (3) have adequate lighting—are there bags under your eyes? If so, you need more even lighting; (4) have a friend or family member take your photo, don't use a "selfie".
