April 3, 2013 - PRLog -- La Harba, CA, March 2013 /ProjectManager/ -- Many project managers see timesheet tracking as the most important part of managing their team members. This is also a vital part of budget management, making sure that everything is paid accordingly in a fair manner, where the team gets their share and the project doesn’t spend beyond the allotted expenses.

On one of the latest Whiteboard Session releases by Project Manager Ltd. which was proctored by their web director, Miss Jennifer Whitt – Bridges, talks about the importance of timesheerts and effective ways to track it. According to her, “I’ve found several times at the end of projects early on where I would find this mysterious team member who had not been submitting timesheets. So, at the end of the project, my budget was totally ruined.” This could be a very good reason to believe that Timesheet tracking within the team is important.

What is a Timesheet?

A timesheet is either a simple or complex record of an employee’s working hours; this usually answers the questions, but not limited to, was she late? How much time did she render beyond 8 hours? and other time management related questions.

Many contractors assign a supervisor to track a team’s timesheets; this may be dangerous since not everyone is honest enough to give a genuine report. One good example is a ghost employee, a Project Manager or Finance Director pays a certain payroll who’s owner does not really exist. This could be a vital issue within project teams.

Therefore, Timesheet management should be handled and monitored by the PM directly and not depend on getting bulk reports which may include timesheets from falsified team members.
