BURNS HARBOR, Ind. - April 3, 2013 - PRLog -- At the 2013 New York Auto Show, Shelby American revealed to the public the new 2014 Shelby Raptor pickup and the 2013 Shelby 1000. These vehicles are two of the most powerful automobiles on the car market. As popular as the Raptor and Shelby 1000 may be, Shelby has announced that they will limit the production numbers, producing only 100 Raptor trucks and Shelby 1000 cars each. Lake Shore Ford in Burns Harbor could be a possible destination for these Shelby models.

The Raptor is a more powerful version of the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and marks the return of the Shelby truck since 1989. It comes supercharged with a 6.2L V8 engine that delivers an amazing 575 hp and comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. It is offered with 35-inch Goodrich All-Terrain tires. Owners also have the capability to customize their Shelby Raptor via the bold graphics package that is available. The price of this package is $17,995, while the base price of the truck itself is near $44,000.

Gary Patterson, VP of Operations for Shelby American, said that the Raptor was “…engineered for maximum performance.” Patterson added that it’s built “…to excel under even the most extreme conditions.”

The 2013 Shelby 1000 delivers an astonishing 1,200 hp running on regular fuel. This latest Mustang-based car is the most powerful street legal muscle car on the market. It starts as a Ford Shelby GT500 that produces 662 hp, and then Shelby strips the 5.8L engine and rebuilds it so it can deliver and handle more power. Upgrades on the Shelby 1000 include a cooling package, adjustable suspension, and larger brakes. The base GT500 price is $55,000, with the upgraded package starting at $154,995.

Vince LaViolette, Shelby American’s test driver said that the Shelby 1000 can’t be defined solely by its power. LaViolette added that the way the car steers and handles gives an athletic feel to the vehicle.
