The market in China can be won only one way: flawless.  Sounds simple, but there are many hurdles; here may be linguistic shortcomings, incorrect technical terminology creeps in, or the translation of a figure of speech, that sounds funny and kind in the source language, is a no-go in China, instead of the ice breaker it was intended to be.

Native language speakers avoid all of these three mistakes in their translations. If, however, they were to charge large projects or ‘tombs’ in the usual way, for Chinese translations, a charge would quickly add up that is hard to justify. TRADOS therefore, is one of the standard components of the translator agencies toolkit, with the TM-function (»translation memory«) preventing duplicate charges word for word.

»For text analysis […], CAT-tools such as SDL Trados are used. «

TRADOS remembers every word that was already translated before. The customer pays in full for the first word, the first repetition as a percentage, and at some point the repeated translation becomes cost neutral. »Translation Memory« also remembers technical terminology that was used before. Even the moat highly qualified translator can be wrong sometimes – but not with TRADOS.

With all the love for technical tools, the »four-eyes-principle« is one of the most standard services at Globale-Kommunikation Munich. A native language speaker checks every sentence for mistakes and corrects linguistic etiquette. Only then can the customer count on the commending smile of his Chinese partner. Because of the diligence of his linguistic experts, without fail he will receive the desired overall rating: flawless.
