Recent News Of Abandoned Kittens Brings Animal Charities Into Spotlight

April 2, 2013 - PRLog -- The recent news of 5 four-week-old kittens which were found in bin bags in White City, West London has highlighted the increasing importance of animal charities. The kittens were discovered abandoned in an open box, in the bins of a housing estate in the Westbourne Park area. Unfortunately this is just one story in an increasing numbers of similar incidences that have occurred in the capital and animal rescue centres across the UK are trying to help pets like these find caring, new homes.

Support Adoption For Pets is an animal charity that works hard to provide financial support to animal rehoming centres across the UK and Northern Ireland. Through a series of funding initiatives and fundraising events which take part in all Pets At Home stores, distribution centres and the Support Office, the charity helps to ensure that a financial lifeline is available to those animal shelters that help abandoned pets get a second chance at happiness.

The charity raises money through a number of animal fundraising events (http://www.supportadoptionforpets.co.uk/events) each year, organised with the fantastic support of Pets At Home stores across the UK. With Spring upon us, Support Adoption For Pets is gearing up for the first of three national fundraising drives that happen every year, with each Pets At Home store nominating up to two animal rescue homes to support. These events help to raise awareness for the animal shelters nationally, whilst raising much needed money and allowing those that take part to have a lot of fun along the way!

Not only has the charity, impressively raised over £7 million since it was founded in 2006; Support Adoption For Pets has also found new homes for 63,000 pets this year through its nationwide adoption centres and has just rolled out a free rabbit neutering programme for all rabbits in its care.

Initiatives, such as their Damaged Stock scheme, supports local rehoming centres with much needed bags of food and other pet care supplies. The scheme allows Support Adoption For Pets to forward these supplies, that cannot be sold, to rehoming centres in an aim to help ease the burden of paying for food to feed hungry animals.

Support Adoption For Pets also make it easy for prospective new pet owners to find their local animal shelters by hosting a completely interactive rehoming centre directory and allowing all charities to upload their details completely free of charge, giving everyone the chance to find your local animal rescue centre (http://www.supportadoptionforpets.co.uk/rescue-centres).

So if you want to make sure that abandoned pets like those found in West London get a great chance at a new and happier life, why not find out how you can support your local pet adoption centre, or get in touch with us at Support Adoption For Pets.
