PopUp Republic Hosting Los Angeles Art and Fashion Pop-up

PopUp Republic, an online voice for the emerging American pop-up scene, is hosting “Art Hearts Fashion,” a night of art and fashion, in a very special pop-up event on April 5th. The pop-up will be held at the Los Angeles hot spot 333 Live.
 
LOS ANGELES - April 2, 2013 - PRLog -- PopUp Republic, an online voice for the emerging American pop-up scene, is hosting “Art Hearts Fashion,” a night of art and fashion, in a very special pop-up event on April 5th.  The pop-up will be held at the Los Angeles hot spot 333 Live and will showcase a new fashion line by celebrity designer Stevie Boi along with works by upcoming designers and artists.

“We see pop-ups as unique vehicles to promote the talents of America’s artisans, be they chefs, designers, artists and producers,” said Jeremy Baras, CEO of PopUp Republic.  “The adjectives that best describe pop-ups -- impromptu, exclusive, handmade, mysterious, one-of-a-kind -- all imply a freshness and cutting-edge element that is in tune with what consumers want,” Baras said.

Pop-ups are not only becoming an economic force in the U.S. -- according to Bloomberg News, pop-ups constituted an $8 billion industry in 2012 -- they are revolutionizing how products are presented to the public and creating outlets for entrepreneurial expression.  Leading international brands are curating pop-up events to launch new products, chefs are using pop-ups to unleash culinary skills often bottled up by permanent restaurant menus, and designers are hosting pop-ups as an affordable means to expose their talents to a public always in search of something new and different.

“We are seeing quantum leaps in the number and types of pop-ups,” Baras said, “and we think it is because they make sense, especially in this day and age.  On-line stores don’t provide consumers with the ability to touch fabrics or try on apparel or accessories.  People need to create their own jobs.  Commercial landlords need to find new ways to fill their empty storefronts, and municipalities have to collaborate with local merchants to vitalize commercially-challenged neighborhoods.  It is a vehicle for the times,” Baras said.

PopUp Republic previously hosted an art & fashion pop-up in New York City during Fashion Week.  The proceeds of the April 5th event in Los Angeles will benefit the non-profit NORMAL, which educates about mental health, eating disorders, body image and stress management through award-winning programs.  The pop-up event will feature the works of local artists and designers and will be followed by a “Space Ghetto” party.
