STAR Smog Certification Adds Confusion for Smog Check Consumers

BURBANK, Calif. - March 30, 2013 - PRLog -- As of January 2013 the Department of Motor Vehicles now directs some vehicles to STAR certified stations for smog checks.  Previously vehicles were directed to Test Only stations.  Because of this change consumers may not know what a STAR station is or where to find one.  To help consumers, Demand Advantage has created an easy to use website to assist those looking for STAR Smog stations at www.whatisaSTARsmogstation.com.   The site provides explanations defining what STAR smog stations are, smog checks and useful tools on how to find a convenient STAR location.  

A STAR certified station is monitored more closely by the Bureau of Automotive Repairs.  A STAR smog station can be a STAR Test Only Center, which can only perform a smog inspection and test, or a STAR Test and Repair Station where both smog inspections, smog tests and repair orders can be performed.
