Civil War Days At Peddler's Village!

Experience Civil War Living History and Reenactment on April 13 & 14, 2013
 
LAHASKA, Pa. - March 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Experience the thrill of the Civil War brought to life at Peddler’s Village Civil War Days, Saturday, April 13, and Sunday, April 14, 2013. Admission and parking are free.

Travel back in time as you view reenactments of infantry and artillery units in battle scenarios. Walk through the Union and Confederate camps to learn how the troops lived in Daily Life of the Civil War Soldiers demonstrations throughout the weekend or take the Candlelight Camp Tour on Saturday evening. Each afternoon, catch the 150th anniversary reenactment of a battle skirmish along the Rappahannock River.  

Enjoy musical performances by the Providence Brigade Brass Band and the 69th PA Irish Band. Watch President Lincoln address the troops and deliver the Gettysburg Address. Browse the authentic merchandise in the Sutler Camp, the Civil War version of a traveling peddler, and learn how the troops were treated for illness and injury at the Union and Confederate Medical Tent Displays.  

New this year is the School of the Piece, an Artillery School for training of Union States and Confederate States artillery units on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cavalry and infantry units are also invited to participate in combined arms instruction. The school is designed for reenactors to sharpen artillery drill and increase their knowledge.

Saturday schedule, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.:
• Camp Opens with Artillery Round, Infantry Marching and Drilling: 10 a.m.
• School of the Piece Artillery School: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
• School of the Soldier training of new recruits and Kids’ Drill: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
• President Abraham Lincoln delivers the Gettysburg Address: 11:30 a.m.
• Sixth New York Independent Battery Artillery Demonstrations: 12 p.m., 3 p.m.
• Providence Brigade Regimental Brass Band of Rhode Island: 12 p.m., 3 p.m.
• Reenactment of a Battle Skirmish along the Rappahannock River: 4 p.m.
• Candlelight Camp Tours 7-8 p.m.
Sunday schedule, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.:
• Camp Opens with Camp Life and Living History: 10 a.m.
• Civil War Church Service: 11 a.m.
• 69th PA Irish Infantry Drilling and Marching: 12 p.m.
• 69th PA Irish Band Performance: 1 p.m.
• President Abraham Lincoln delivers the Gettysburg Address: 2 p.m.
• Sixth New York Independent Battery Artillery Demonstrations: 2:30 p.m.
• Reenactment of a Battle Skirmish along the Rappahannock River: 3 p.m.  
• Civil War Camp closes: 4 p.m.
